Dogs or Cats?

This week in English we have had several discussions about dogs and cats. Which makes the better pet? Why are dogs better than cats and vice versa?  Today we debated it properly. Darcie prepared a speech arguing in favour of dogs, whilst Sophie was in favour of cats.  Both girls spoke passionately about their preferred animal and everyone else had something to add.  In the end we had a vote.

So which is best?  Dogs or cats?.......

The vote was:
 19 in favour of dogs
   4 in favour of cats

The dogs have it!

A good, fun debate which no doubt will continue.

Cricket Taster

This afternoon  Alex from the UEA came to give Owls and Otters a taster session in cricket. The lesson started with skills and then we played a game of "5 Bats".  It was fast and furious  as the bowler continually bowled the ball. Each team had 5 bats and if a player was caught out, or if it hit the stumps, they  lost a bat for their team. Play finished when there were no bats left.
Everyone enjoyed the session and will look forward to more cricket sessions after half term.

Beetle Drive

There was a treat for year 5 and 6 in maths this morning. To celebrate the end of SATs ( and to say "well done" for all the hard work in preparation of them) we had a Beetle Drive.  It was great fun and very competitive!

Science Fun

In science we are looking at "materials and their properties". Today we did an experiment with Mrs McClure to find the best insulating "foam" to stop ice-cream melting. It involved using lots of ingredients.

The best insulating foam was....egg white!

Anyone for Baked Alaska?!!!
